Fund Raising

Suicide Prevention Center, Inc. (SPC), founded in 1965, is the oldest suicide prevention agency in Ohio and the second oldest in the United States. It has the oldest volunteer-run crisis hotline in the US. Its mission is to save lives threatened by suicide.

Since the loss of public funding in the second half of 1996, SPC has reorganized and established a new funding base. All funding now comes from private foundations, individual donors and fundraising events. The only public monies that SPC receives are "donor choice" monies from United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (those monies the donor stipulates MUST go to SPC only). While most services still remain free of charge to the client, SPC markets its training workshops.

Your participation in these fundraising events, along with your donations, will help Suicide Prevention Center serve the crisis needs of the people of the greater Miami Valley.

Fundraising Events

AleFeast - March 3, 2012

This event will take place at the Masonic Temple, 525 W. Riverview Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45406. SPC is the Selected Charity for this event. The event begins at 4:00 p.m. and runs until 7:00 p.m. We need at least 50 volunteers from 3 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to assist us in conducting this event. Volunteer positions include assisting in setting up, admissions, pouring, delivering ice, and cleaning up. If you would like to help, give a call at (937) 226-0818.

Fish Fry Fundraiser - March 10, 2012

Suicide Prevention Center, Inc. (SPC) will be holding a Fish Fry/Monte Carlo Night on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Marian Manor, 6050 Dog Leg Rd., Dayton, OH 45415. This event is an annual fundraiser for SPC and includes all you can eat, Monte Carlo-style games, raffles and more. This event is co-sponsored by Knights of Columbus Marian Council #3754, and all proceeds go to benefit Suicide Prevention Center’s lifesaving services. For tickets ($15) or more information, call 226-0818. Children $5 (seven years and under).

14th Annual "Make a Difference...Save a Life!" 5K Race/Walk - April 7, 2012

Participants

We invite you, your family and friends to participate in our 14th annual "Make A Difference...Save a Life!" 5K Race/Walk on April 7, 2012 at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark. Registration the day of the race begins at 8:30 a.m. The race begins at 10 a.m.

A separate registration form is required for each participant in the Race/Walk. T-shirts are not included in the registration fee!
